Returning to School

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are very excited to share that the timeline for the staged return to onsite learning is being brought forward, with restrictions that were to be lifted on Tuesday 26 October now to be lifted from Friday 22 October.

What that means for primary school students is that students in Years 5 and 6 will return to school on Friday 22nd October, for an extra day of the staggered return.

This has all been made possible thanks to parents, teachers, students and the broader Victorian community stepping up to get vaccinated in great numbers across our community.

The updated Roadmap, which is based on advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, sets out the staged return to onsite learning in Term 4.

Curriculum Day

All Year Levels Onsite

Remote and flexible learning will continue to be delivered to students on the days students are not onsite.

Vulnerable children and children of parents or carers who are on the authorised provider and authorised worker list can continue attending onsite.

CAMP Australia will be open for students in line with their return to onsite attendance at school.

As previously communicated by the Department of Education, students in Year 3 -6 are required to wear face masks; face masks are strongly recommended for students in Foundation to Year 2.

Please refer to this letter from David Howes (Deputy Secretary – Schools and Regional Services) for information about mask wearing and COVID safe practices.

Thank you again for all your support and we look very much to welcoming our students back to onsite learning full time, very soon.

Entering and Exiting the School:

Unfortunately, due to Department of Education requirements we are unable to have parents entering the school. We ask parents to be mindful of Covid safe practices of social distancing and mask wearing when dropping off or collecting children.

Students scheduled for onsite learning, please enter the school via Gate 1 (Deutgam Street) or Gate 5 (Pyke Street) until Monday 25th October.

Students are to make their way to their classrooms as soon as they arrive.

From Tuesday 26th October, scheduled onsite year levels will be able to enter and exit the school via any school gate.

Please note:
Gates will open in the morning at 8:35am and close at 9:00am.
Gates will open in the afternoon at 3:10pm and close at 3:20pm.

Students entering or exiting the school after these times will need to do so via the Front Office (Gate 1).

Friendly reminder to send your child/ren to school with the following items:

  • School hat
  • Water bottle
  • Face mask – Years 3-6

Please return any borrowed technology to the school on Friday 5th November.

Please note that the process for onsite supervision of Essential Workers children and vulnerable children has not changed.

The staff are very excited about welcoming the students back over the next couple of weeks and thrilled to have all of our students back at school for every school day, from Friday November 5th.

Stay safe and healthy,

Werribee Primary School Staff
