Term 2 Week 3

Mother's Day Stall - Thursday 7th & Friday 8th May

Get ready for our Mother’s Day Stall – full of special surprises for mums, grandmas, and loved ones!

Students will visit the stall with their class on Thursday at an allocated time. Please send your child with some money and a shopping bag to carry their gifts home.

The stall will reopen on Friday for students who missed out or would like to bring additional money to shop again.

We can’t wait to see the excitement as students choose something special!

Mother's Day Raffle - books due 10am Friday 10th May

Mother’s day Raffle tickets have been distributed.  Please check your child’s school bag for raffle tickets.

All books are to be returned to the school by 10 am Friday 10th May.  $1.00 per ticket = $5.00 per book.

Please write your name & phone number or your child's name and class on each ticket.

From the Art Room

Well you may have noticed it is a bit barer in the front of the school.  Our weaving yarn bombing has been taken down.  I will now separate the circle weavings and return them to their makers.  It was a lot of fun doing this project and there are ideas for more ‘fence art’ for later in the year.

The Stitch Don’t Ditch competition is on at the moment.  It is about turning pre-loved clothing into fashion.  There is a primary school section which is turning pre-loved clothing into toys.  We would like to start the ball rolling for next year so have a request for any pre-loved clothing that cannot be reused.  So this is the clothing with holes, etc.  No underwear, of course and only fabrics that can be easily sewn so not too thick.  Please drop this off outside the art room (for students) or at the office (parents).  Thanking you in anticipation.

Victorian Chief Health Officer message to schools and their communities

I would like to take this opportunity to thank students, staff, teachers, parents, and carers for ensuring a safe and successful start to the 2021 school year and to thank you for your cooperation during the short period of remote learning in February during the circuit breaker restrictions.

As Term 2 commences, schools continue to be able to operate with a largely normal program of activity, enabling important on-site activities to return, such as school open days and working bees, with appropriate health and safety measures in place.

Throughout the pandemic, Victorian schools have rapidly and successfully adapted to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, embedding COVIDSafe principles by reinforcing good behaviours, creating safe spaces, adapting activities, and responding quickly to COVID-19 risk.

While we have seen outbreaks emerge in Victoria, we have also witnessed our capacity to respond quickly to limit the impact of these outbreaks.

Given the current very low risk of COVID-19 transmission in the community, continued high rates of testing and wastewater monitoring, and continued observance of health and safety measures in schools; those with medical vulnerabilities or their carers can feel reassured to continue to safely work and learn on school sites, and enjoy the benefits of doing so.

It is crucial, however, for everyone to remain vigilant by staying home when unwell, performing regular hand hygiene, wearing a mask when required, and maintaining physical distancing from others when practical.

Should cases of COVID-19 increase again in the community, I am confident that with COVIDSafe plans in place, alongside our ability to quickly identify and respond to cases, schools remain safe places for all staff and students. I also continue to be reassured by evidence that children are less impacted by the virus and are less likely to develop severe illness.

The school community continues to have an important role to promote COVID-19 testing when a student or staff member has any symptoms, no matter how mild, and ensuring they remain home until they are well. Getting tested and staying home until results are known is critical to limiting community transmission.

Victorian Chief Health Officer

CSEF applications close on 26th June 2026

Every Victorian child should have access to the world of learning opportunities that exist beyond the classroom. The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps ensure that no student will miss out on the opportunity to join their classmates for important, educational and fun activities.

It is part of making Victoria the Education State and the Government’s commitment to breaking the link between a student’s financial circumstances and their outcomes.

School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership. All are a part of a healthy curriculum.

CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school excursions, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or  support an out of home care student you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid directly to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

HOW TO APPLY

New applicants should contact the school office to obtain a CSEF application form or download from the website below.

If you applied for CSEF at your child's school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.

You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:

  • new student enrolments: your child has started or changed schools this year.
  • changed family circumstances: such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing this year.

Check with the school office if you are unsure.
